Lesson 12

THAT IS RIGHT!!! FUCK obedience school!
We know how independent cats are and how they do not take to training the way dogs (the classic students at an obedience school) do. In actuality, cats are trainable but it looks different from dog training and you DO have to meet the cat halfway, you won't get far if you ignore your cat's boundaries ykwim. The cat has to want to spend that time with you and if the training sux, they'll just leave.
What do we see here?
A teacher is angrily watching her student leave, the student who is wearing a helmet publicly proclaiming his failure. Onlookers see this and hold it against the student ("typical of his kind").
What is actually happening?
The obedience school has failed the student. Society is not addressing the failure of the school to meet the actual needs of the student, this is simply accepted as the natural state of things: "cats do poorly in obedience school, it's inherent to cats" rather than "This school did not accommodate the needs of this student, the teacher gave this student a failing grade and sent him away rather than meet those needs." do you see how this creates the environment of "nothing needs to be done, nothing needs to be changed about the system, this is how cats are"?
is it any wonder that Heathcliff is wearing the F helmet? He sees a system that is unbalanced this way and says "I'm going to fail and it will be on my terms because society has already marked me for failure thus I wear the failing helmet to school by choice."
